Light Woodstock Vermont postmark, but full and easy to read that it was stamped March 32. Note is to the Town Clerk of Strafford Vermont listing two Baldwin family members as stockholders in the Bank of Woodstock. S Morrill, Town Clerk of Strafford signed receipt. Nice historic item, plus an oddity regarding the date.

Hard to find Edgerley and Aberdeen Southbound railroad post office cancel on letter from Westport to New York. Crown Elevator Co. letterhead with contents of a personal nature regarding with Charley writing to his brother that he has harvest a large amount of wheat.  He has more to go, but the price for wheat is so low, he is  considering burning the rest.  Interesting letter.

Extremely clean printed notice from the Wiscasset clerk (E. B. Bowman) to the constables of the Town of Warren directing them to notify "freeholders and other inhabitants to vote in the choice of Representatives, and particularly the Selectmen and Town Clerk, to assemble, six days, at least, and not more than twenty days before the time for holding the Court hereafter mentioned, at a certain place, there by you made known, to appoint as the law directs, by drawng out of the box one good and lawful man of the said Town of Warren of like qualification and good moral character to serve as Traverse Juror at the Supreme Judicial Court of this state..." See scans for entire document. Signatures include Bowman; George Reed, Traverse Juror; and C. B Fisher, constable of Boothbay. The postmark is an error postmark listed in ASCC. Strong blue Wiscassett postmark along with lighter large numeral 5 rate mark.

Created when Wheeling was part of Virginia (now West Virginia).  Letter is from David McConaughey (a prominent surname in Wheeling area at the time) regarding settlement of a claim. His right to the settlement is affirmed by a second note signed D. T. Tallant. Letter is addressed to Delano & Israel attorney at law. Condition is very good with no separations. Only tear is in the usual spot where seal was broken and does not affect content.  Postmark is full but light. 12.5-cent rate.

Perfs on stamp are into at the top and right. Good clearance at the bottom. Left side indicates that this may have been left margin because there is considerable white with no stamp image on the left side. Angle starts close at top and widens considerably by the time it gets to the bottom. West Winsted Connecticut is a rare dead post office. The letter was sent to Cornwall Bridge, a desirable Connecticut address.
