In opening letter, recipient tore top just into the top of the embossed image. Backflap has been reinforced with stamp hinges that can be removed. |

SANDY BRIDGE TENNESSEE MANUSCRIPT POSTMARK ON 1850S COVER + INSPIRATIONAL MOTTOS Bold manuscript postmark carries into the stamp. Addressed to South Carolina. Written on the cover is the date July 11, 1859. Three of the four quadrants of the flap side carry a religious message. The are: When in this veile of sorrows I travail on in pain. we owe to God above Duty, fear & love. A man can gain nothing in the company of the vicious. Seal is intact. Letter was opened neatly at left.
