WASHINGTON DC 1906 SPECIAL DELIVERY COVER. SUPER POSTAL MARKINGS.

Year:

1906
District of Columbia

If you collect postal markings, special delivery or just very interesting covers...this lot is for you. Absolutely super postal history item. This 1906 Boston cover was sent special delivery from Washington DC to Boston MA. On the face it has these postal markings: large double-line box with No Letter; fee claimed by office of first address; and the best feature -- a fee paid Boston time clock receiver mark with the Boston capital building as the hour hand of the clock! Check it out in the lower left corner of the cover. The December 31, 1906 appears to be a receiver from the insurance company addressee. The back features a Boston and Providence Railroad Post Office partial postmark. As you see from the scan, the cover has damage at the upper left corner and a small hole just below that. Cover shows normal wear for a cover of this early vintage. Nice E-6 special delivery stamp along with postal stationery of the time
