Jabez Throop Settles in Schoharie

In 1789 Jabez Throop came from a Connecticut town to settle in Schoharie as one of its first merchants. He had erected a two-story brick building which was completed on its Main street site in 1800 and  became widely known throughout a vast surrounding area as a general store which also handled drugs, the first drug store ever to be established in Schoharie county. The letter also indicates that Throop was a town officer as he is seeking invoices that need to be paid by the town.
