UNITED KINGDOM: 1861 DOCK DUES FOR BOSTON SHIP JEANIE BOUND TO PROVIDENCE RI See scan. Recording to tonnage for tax purposes. Tax stamp affixed lower left corner. Newcastle upon Tyne custom house document. Item is in poor condition. Separated in the center and reinforced. Also top right corner is reinforced. However, good historic early shippind document. Note: It is possible this is the Jeanie Johnston a ship that carried many from Ireland to Canada during the Potato Famine and later traveled between Engand and New England. In researching the ship name, this information came to light with no other reference of a ship named Jeanie in the area at the time. This is speculation, not confirmed. |
