CIVIL WAR 1863 LETTER TO REV. A. H. QUINT REGARDING REMAINS OF DEAD SOLDIER Letter is written on behalf of the sister of Matthew Charles H. Bickford, Company B, Massachusetts 2nd Regiment Vols. who was reported killed in action. Letter is to the company chaplain asking "where he was buried and whether by his friends or the Rebels." Private Charles H. Bickford of B Company, 2nd Massachusetts Infantry Regiment was born on March 1844, and died on May 3, 1863 in Chancellorsville, Virginia, at the age of 19.
